What if your children have epilepsy and the only thing saving them is pot. You might rethink your view real quick. If you don't you'll end up in bankruptcy from all the ER visits and ambulance rides. You have a weak mind. I suggest you work it out some. Think bigger and better.

What the hell are you even talking about? I have not commented at all on whether or not pot should be legal. I have simply said that in her case, she chose to get high knowing she was putting the olympics at risk. Given THOSE facts and circumstances (risking something of incredible value for something with such little value), it was very poor judgement and i hope my children would do better.

You present a totally different set of circumstances, then of course the decision may change.

Me: Jumping out of a 3rd floor window is generally a bad idea
You: If that building was on fire, you would think differently.
Me: No shite dumbass!!

I am showing more extreme versions to highlight the fallacy and inconsistency in the logic. So you think the circumstances are what matters? Isn't that kind of like saying it's ok for someone to frick you in the arse as long as it's only a lubed tip? That doesn't really fly with me, and I'm sure it doesn't fly with anyone else either. If something is wrong, then it's wrong and you say so, then you fix it. The degree to which it is wrong isn't really what matters. Btw, ultimately it's the US that is paying the consequences of this bad rule. She doesn't get to compete, but she was competing for the US and that means she's going to be replaced by someone who likely won't do as well - or they would have been there already.

Against my better judgement, i will try again.

Your extreme examples are the fallacy of your argument.

And Circumstances usually do matter, of course it may depend on your perspective. Example, you kill someone while one of you was breaking into the other’s house.. If you were breaking into his house, it’s murder. If he was breaking into yours, it’s justifiable homicide. Those circumstances matter. Although neither really matters to the dead person because he is dead either way.

Continuing with your theme of extreme examples, say someone is fricking your daughter. If she is 30 and it is her husband, it is probably not an issue. If she is 10 and it is you, different story. Circumstances matter.

You can come up with examples all day long where circumstances aren’t significant but, they typically are important. But I certainly agree there are some principles that can stand alone regardless of circumstance.
