Look...I'm not saying that most Alabama fans aren't great people. I have Bama friends who are totally disgusted that these people were representing Bama. But if that scene was reversed, I'd be pissed and embarrassed as hell. And I'd want something done.
And for the record, I've had LSU season tickets in the South End Upper since the early 70's and I have NEVER seen a piss balloon...

My point about piss bombs is that there is a national PERCEPTION that LSU fans do that. People in other parts of the country THINK that LSU fans throw urine all over opposing fans.
I've had people in airports ask me if that has happened to me before. People have been mistreated, jaws have been broken, an all of those combine to add to the lore of the fans. I don't really know what can be said about it, except to say that all we can do is act nicely and respectfully and hope those experiences make people form different perceptions.

I've never seen a freaking piss ballon in over 40 years. Why is there a perception of piss ballons with our fans? Because maybe people make that shite up, ya think? Difference is, what was on that video wasn't made up.

Now we are on the same page. Good point. The only thing that bothers me about Updike is that some of your fans seemed to have embraced him but asking for his autograph, taking pics with him, etc. Others see that and they think, "Well I will do something and I will be like him." Retarded, but kind of scary. How far will a Bama fan go? Teabagging is pretty bad. What's next?

So let me ask you something...have you ever seen a piss bomb? If someone asked me in an airport I'd say in 40 years, I've never seen one.

When a team can choose its fans, I suppose we can do something about it.
Posted on 1/20/12 at 5:26 am to Daigeaux
But I have seen a teabagger and a tree poisoned.

Well, it doesn't matter what people see. It matters what people think is real. That's the funny thing about perception, and to think national people sit around and break down the difference between one program with fringe fans who they think throw urine all over everyone and have players who beat up people at bars and grope women, and another with fringe fans that poison trees and expose themselves on Bourbon Street and have players arrested for beating girlfriends and smoking pot, you give yourselves too much credit. No one cares that much.

Bella...I know you're a great Bama fan, just like most Bama fans. But what get's me is instead of people directing their anger at the punks who did this, it's mostly "well the LSU fan shouldn't have gotten so drunk he passed out" or "well your fans did this and that"
If I was a Bama fan I'd be freakin furious that these punks were wearing Bama colors. I wouldn't be pissed at anyone BUT them. And it was more than one person. Period.
And for the kid, whose dad is the sports director in Mobile, to issue an apology to Saban and Alabama and not to the kid who this was done to, just shows how freaking warped this whole thing is...
Do you honestly not see this?

bellabama, plenty of people care. I guess when your only outlet for the whole state is Bama football I guess some people like Updike go overboard. We have other outlets other than football.
Bama fans have a warped sense of reality. It is weird to me. I don't understand the rantards either though. I love LSU sports, but it doesn't define me.

It's Updyke atleast get it right! I have sit and read some of your posts and have come to this conclusion that if these Bama fans that have done these stupid things bother you so much then either reach out and help them or STFU and quit crying. Look we "Bama Fans" are not crying about the broken jaw or the other shite that goes on in NOLA when LSU/Bama games are played there so get over it I mean it's a joke that you even claim to care about it and if you do are you one of those that cries about all the bad things that happen in the news? Probably not you just want to sit here and post shite about the only 2 dumb arse Bama fans in the nation because your still butt hurt about the game.I mean look at the news NOLA is the largest murder capital in the US but you want point out a tree killer and a immature kid.SO GFYS and here's some music for you're departure.

The passion for LSU football is just as great as anywhere in the SEC....don't kid yourself...people live and die with LSU, just as at Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas and everyone else. I don't buy the "outlet" thing for one minute. That's what makes SEC football what it is.

Alabamians have been dealing with negative stereotypes for generations. We have a legacy of Bull Connor and hosing people in the streets of Birmingham. It's a misconception that the only outlet for an entire state is football. Surely people from Louisiana realize that asking questions like this is like asking what people are going to do about the perception that New Orleans is a place of hoodlums and murderers. Most people have the capacity to see past the one dimensional stereotype.

I understand that and I get what you are saying, but LSU fans for the most part get mad at our coach and think the world is going to end. We have the manical fans that see the LSU program ending every day. They have been seeing the end of the world ever since we became dominant.

Legend13, you mad bc I didn't spell your hero's name right? Either way, the world has the image of a BAMA fans teabagging a passed out drunk while other BAMA fans cheer him on and participate in messing with this passed out drunk. Stay classy.

I'm from New Orleans and I love the place...but I'll be the first to admit that the crap that goes on there is out of freaking control. I tell people all the time to be very careful when they visit and play it safe. I don't sugar coat anything.

Thankfully, I've been all over the world and lived all over the country, so I can measure what people think about my state and do what I can to prove them wrong if they are misinformed.

You seem like a good Bama fan and I have enjoyed debating with you, but it is time for me to go to bed. Have a good day.
Legend13, you are the cult that I was talking about. Your whole life is bama football. Sad. And your number should be 9.
