So bama fans have gone from trying to figure out how to come up with Deboers buyout to including him among the short list of elite coaches in 6 weeks? I love fandom.

Maybe it’s not a good idea to fire multiple head coaches after just 3-4 years each. It means you’ll always have to fork over more guaranteed money for the next guy.

Auburn is a better job than all except for maybe LSU.
Not in the new SEC. It’s a very challenging job.

The root problem is that we keep hiring bad fits. Harsin may as well have been from Mars when he got to Auburn. Didn’t like recruiting, didn’t enjoy doing much of anything that an SEC coach has to do, and actively sought conflict with anyone and everyone.
Freeze is a bad fit because he’s past his prime, comes with more baggage than a 747, and runs an offense that was fading a decade ago. His body language suggests he is in over his head and he’s just deluding himself into thinking he can turn it around.
If our athletics department was willing to do due diligence, we wouldn’t have to keep firing coaches. Harsin interviewed over a Zoom call where the audio/video malfunctioned, and it was apparent that Freeze wasn’t properly vetted, because all of the Liberty accusations popped up when he got hired and the school didn’t know how to respond.
