That's why we play the games.

Honestly, as long as Saban is at Bama its going to be tough sledding for AU.
Yes, since Bama is going to continue to have great teams but since Saban we've been to the SECCG and the national championship twice.
Saban being at Bama helped Auburn overall. His dominance in Tuscaloosa has forced Auburn to evolve and keep up. What has made Auburn worse in recent years has been the emergence of State and OM + the addition of A&M. That's two teams that Auburn used to abuse + a new addition to the conference that seems to always been on pace with Auburn - good & bad.

And we've also been higher-ranked in recruiting than we were before he was there. Bama has always gotten first pick of the recruits in-state, even in the down years.

Motherfrick you Auburn! My son is leaving for up there in August so now I'm stuck sending my money to perenially the dumbest institution in college football!
How many "extensions" is it now that have bit you in the arse? Dye, Buster Brown, Wingnut, No Teeth, and now Gussie.
Good God you guys are stupid. Baylor was only kidding.

You do realize that none of the money that you are sending is commingling with the money for our football coaches right?
It must be nice to be a fan of a university who has never shelled-out a dime for a buyout and has seen every coach ride off amicably into the sunset.

We had to give Shula $4 million.

I didn't say my money would be used in any buyout.
Go back to class.
Go back to class.

Then why make the post? That's clearly what you implied.
And thanks, I finished my last class about 15 years ago.

Bama is king of the mountain, UGA has the hottest young coach in the country right now as well as an ace recruiter generating a ton of buzz and will do a better job than Richt in holding onto their talent, UF just won the East and the perception is that UF is back, FSU is well FSU and is two years removed from a title.
AU attracts talent but it is going to get tougher to compete with those four programs particularly if the wheels come of this season.
This reminds me of the non-sense people have been saying for years. The truth is Auburn rarely gets a kid bama, uga, florida or lsu wants. Maybe 2 every cycle. We beat those schools on some of the mid level kids from time to time. Auburn is fortunate in that it lies in an area with an abundance of talent when the other schools can only offer 25 a year. So we scrape up some great talent as well. Add to the mix other schools missing on kids or Auburn hitting on kids that others ignored and you can be competitive. Suddenly you understand the secret to Auburn success in recruiting. The success is relative though because Auburn rarely finishes above 4th in the SEC in recruiting.
The notion that Smart is going to do better than CMR is silly in recruiting when you consider where uga has finished year in and out under CMR. Unless Smart starts beating Saban out on kids every year.

Look no further than the 2017 class so far vs what it would have been with richt. Not so silly now is it?
You don't know enough about Uga recruiting to have an educated opinion on it.

What? I can't speak for the others, but it simply isn't true of Georgia. You guys pull several players we recruit every year. Kyle Davis and Derrick brown are two that pop into my head immediately from last year. Montravious Adams (Or Montavious Atkinson, I am getting the confused) and Tyler Queen...Antuwam Jackson, Caleb Kim, Carl Lawson, Darius Slayton
(I'd be willing to bet there are 3-4 or 4-5 every year.)
Seems like you pulled 2-3 or 3-4 from Florida last year, too.

Not to mention that we finished higher last year than we had in awhile....even though we were changing coaches.
