Therein lies the disconnect. I do believe that big business has undue influence on our government. I see policies and programs that underscore this problem. Illegal immigration is one of those problems, which you yourself said is a big issue.

The Tea Party is another good movement that I do not dismiss out of hand. Many do, because they feel the Tea Party is "not on their side".

I don't agree with everything and everyone in the Tea Party, but I am glad they exist.

I feel the same about young idealists at least willing to question things like corporate personhood and corporate welfare, bailouts, etc.

i think you overestimate their raison d'etre. from what i've seen, it's much more about expressing displeasure about how much money someone else has. see all the pics posted on these boards for proof.

i'm only going by what i've seen. i haven't seen anything that suggests any different to this point. i even read their "demands" or whatever so i haven't dismissed them.

someone needs to inform them of how the voting process works. what they're doing is having essentially no political effect whatsoever. politicians are barely even commenting on the phenomenon

There are commies there. I get it.

But there are also good ideas, like abolishing corporate personhood. I honestly believe 99% of Americans would benefit from that.

Movements evolve and change.

I'm willing to bet that 90% of Americans don't even know what corporate personhood is and how it impacts our government. I'm sick as hell of politicians dangling red herrings in front of the electorate to get into office and then doing whatever best lines their pockets once they arrive.

At least at "Occupy Austin" the majority of the protestors I talked to are crazy. One guy said we should abandon the election process and do it lottery style.

Because due to the current way corporations are allowed to lobby and fund, corporations more or less run the government.

Look up bureaucracy. You will see who actually runs any form of government.

Then look up what is happening in Greece.
