I agree on both accounts, their time has passed.

For reference:

11. Les Miles (63-17 at LSU, 91-38 overall)
10. Joe Paterno (402-135-3)
9. Mack Brown (134-34 at Texas, 220-108-1 overall)
8. Bobby Petrino (24-15 at Arkansas, 65-24 overall)
7. Brian Kelly (8-6 with Notre Dame, 179-63-2 overall)
6. Steve Spurrier (45-33 at South Carolina, 187-73-2 overall)
5. Gary Patterson (98-29 at TCU)
4. Pat Fitzgerald (35-29 at Northwestern)
3. Bob Stoops (130-31 at Oklahoma)
2. Chris Petersen (62-5 at Boise State)
1. Nick Saban (44-11 at Alabama, 135-53-1 overall)

Saban is a great coach. However, I am amazed how people always skip over the fact that he has only ever had two top fives.

i'd put Miles above Joe Pa, Mack Brown, Spurrier.

Petrino #7, Miles #8, and it's a good list.

Interesting point, but I think he's number 1 because he took over an LSU program that was 4-7 and 3-8 the previous seasons and an Alabama program just recovering from NCAA sanctions, and brought them to an elite level. Can't argue with him there.

I also think Miles does not get enough credit for sustaining LSU's success. There are numerous coaches who have tanked after taking over for a successful coach.
