This is on a trophy trout section of a white water river. If you are a fisherman, go here. I have a place on the river across from the campground. Great place, great staff. Beautiful area.

This is a website for a train ride through the mountains surrounding the area.

The campground is a little over an hour past Chattanooga. I highly recommend it.

Forget Chattanooga, forget the Smokies (which I do love)... the best views (can see seven states) and most peaceful getaway in the state lies in the Appalachian's fourth highest peak, Roan Mountain, which is on the Tennessee-North Carolina border.

The most beautiful and scenic part of the Appalachian Trail passes the top of the Mountain. The Doe River is stocked with trout and is prime for fly fishing. You can park the RV at Roan Mountain State Park and there is a lot of outdoors attractions there.

Also, Watauga Lake, which is nearby on the Tennessee side is one of the cleanest lakes in the country. Roan Mountain is also about 25-45 minutes from various ski slopes in North Carolina.

There are several RV parks aside from the State Park in the area if you choose to go that route. You can thank me later.
