Dont forget LSU played 15 true freshmen last year (2nd most in the country). Mostly on D.

Dont confuse youth with inexperience

good. I'll be shocked if the D is quite as good as it was in 12 and 11.

Yes and mostly at LB and at CB.

I'm not. I just don't buy the hype that y'all do yet with players like Martin and Collins becoming a full time starter.

wont be 11 caliber as that was just a stupid D. Easily just as good as 12 imo

Ok. Thats at least 2/3 of our D with valuable SEC experience. And they were more than serviceable last year. What happens with that year of experience under their belt?

Martin had 2 pics, 1 TD ret. in very limited pt. Collins had 2 pics as well. 67 tackles between the 2 in limited playing time.

Those are pretty good numbers for freshmen in limited pt if you ask me

its all talk right now but just brushing this D off because "they lost 11", is just dumb. You dont seem dumb to me

how? Your defense will have lost 6 draft picks. Many of those positions don't have obvious, talented successors.

I wouldn't call Collins "limited playing time"

Collins was much better as a NB than on the outside. He was ok last year. I think he will get better as he gets older.

Martin didn't impress me when he played and I didn't think he was a great recruit out of HS.

I'm not saying that, I just think the D won't be as good because it's very unproven at spots (DE, backup DT, backup CB, and FS. I'm also kind of skeptical about LSU lacking a run plugging DT. Both Freak and Ego are both more 3 techniques.

I didnt see 12 as some beast mode D. They were above average yes but not lights out by any means. The 11 D came out of nowhere, nobody expected that, but it happened. From what I saw from the young guys last year, I see no reason why Chavis cant get these guys into shape and have them ready to ball out and not miss a beat from last year

All I can say is LSU will get to make their case on the field. Tigers play the top four.

Can anybody else make that claim? How bout four of top five? Anybody anybody???

I am glad that you are so obsessed with LSU that you would know this. Maybe you should come out of the closet as an LSU fan, otherwise quit making assumptions. Our D will be just as good as it was last year

Because you're in the West? I dunno. Whatta ya getting at? You think you could have an easier time in the East than in the West this season, or last, or what? Spit it out bro.

Just relentless but you bring some good points to the table. I think for the most part I agree with you, but I just see the final product a little better than you project. That's just me though I can understand your POV

quote:

funny that Mingo will be top 15 and Montgomery will go before the 3rd. Not to mention Edwards will likely go in the 4th.
Never understood this. If they are all such top draft picks then why did we never get pressure on the QB? We shouldn't have had to blitz much at all if they were elite pass rushers but it was the only way to get pressure. Mingo is more of a 3-4 guy so I guess I can understand him not fitting into the system...? But idk, some productivity would have been nice. I expected more from 2 potential 1st rounders.

guess who lost more starters than LSU.

here's a hint...you have them #1 and #2 on your list. but i guess LSU is the only one that's going to have issues.

Damn, why can't we be in east?

It all goes in cycles. The west has won the last 4 SECCGs - Alabama 2, Auburn 1, LSU 1. But the east still leads overall 11-10, primarily by winning 6 in a row from 1993-98 - Florida 4, then Tennessee 2. Let's check back in 4 years, and we'll see where we are after 25 SECCGs.

Nice come back. How about using some facts or something to backup what you're saying than the overused and very sad "yeah.. well well you don't know shite about football" it's tired.
