SABAN:[answering] Hello, This is Nick

LSU FAN: Hello, Nick it's me.

SABAN: Oh hello [long pause] How have you been?

LSU FAN: Well, it's been up and down. You know I been with this other coach. He's really great.

SABAN: Yeah things seem to have gone really well for you two years ago. I'm really happy for you. I want you to know that I really wish you the very best.

LSU FAN: Thanks, Coach. Things are pretty good but you know I still think about you a lot.

SABAN: Look, we've talked about this and we had our time together and I will cherish those memories, but I'm with someone new, now. And besides you have someone else to think about. You have to think of his feelings too.

LSU FAN: I know that but, well, things have been kind of rough lately. I mean he's a really great guy but he just pisses me off with his stupidity sometimes.

SABAN: Look, I really don't think this is appropriate.

LSU FAN: [Yelling] Why did you have to go and leave me!?!?! WHY!?!? You told me you loved me! This is so typical; I finally find the perfect coach and he up and leaves me. Why did you have to leave, was it something I did? Did I say something to upset you? What, was it? Just say the word and I'll make it up to you. Can't you see that we were meant to be together.

SABAN: Uh ... [silence]

LSU FAN: [sniff] Look, we can make it work just like before. I promise I'll try harder. I'll start going to the gym. I promise that when we get down by a couple of touchdowns in Tiger Stadium with five minutes left, that I'll stay around til the end. I can change; I promise. Just give me a second chance. No more setting opposing fans' vehicles on fire after a big win. No more driving by your house at 3 a.m. to make sure you are home. I'll stop making accusations that you will leave again. Whatever it takes I can change!

SABAN: I'm sorry, but we can't go back to what we had. It was a great run but it's over now. I've moved on and it's time you did the same.

LSU FAN: [screaming] You Son of a *****! You are just like all the rest of them! I hope you lose every game.

SABAN: Look, I have work to do and I need to get going.

LSU FAN: [frantic] NO, please don't hang up. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I just said. Just ... please ... Nick.

SABAN: Look, I have to go. [click, hanging up]

LSU FAN: I love you.
