In 2007, we nearly experienced a Missouri vs. West Virginia BCS title game. Each program had minimal historical success with zero national titles each. Missouri had a close chance in 1960 and West Virginia lost to Notre Dame for the 1988 national title.
Even though Oregon is 0/2 in championship games, an appearance for them wouldn’t be as Cinderella-like. We could have an Ole Miss vs. Indiana matchup where each has yet to win a nationally recognized title. Ole Miss claims 1960 but wasn’t crowned by the major service polls. Indiana doesn’t have a history other than a top five AP finish in 1967 and their historic run in 2024.
Ole Miss vs. Indiana is what the College Football World deserves!!!
