There is a precedence for this within SigEp. I was a SigEp at Arkansas and our chapter was shut down by nationals for three years back in the mid 90's for a racial incident involving a "sambo" statue on the front lawn, a black law professor and a chair flying out a window of the house in his general direction. The members responsible for the flying chair were immediately kicked out of the fraternity but nationals still shut the whole chapter down regardless. It was an ugly mess at the time. Needless to say, I doubt our nationals has forgotten that negative press that they received for that one.
