Using such complex research techniques such as looking at previous classes, I've derived that CUM puts together a very balanced class each year meaning he doesnt overload too much at one particular position and also doesnt skip over a particular position in each class. They typically sign 2 CB in each class and they are always studs. They have 1 stud committed to them currently and lead for another. If history is a good indicator, then CUM should be done at the position and that should send us Alexander. I just dont know who to take out of the final 9 to put him in there.

I think someone will fall off that is currently committed. It almost never holds over the entire season were no one flips.

Elisha Shaw named Bama his leader last night, but that is the third "leader" he's had this summer. It is impossible to predict where he will end up other than OM, UGA, or Bama. I really think we get him because I think Bama fills up before he decides and his grades may scare UGA off a little. In the end I would be surprised if it didnt come down to OM and UGA even though Bama is his leader today. Given that, I think we have a real shot a Gerrald McDowell. I'd say our chances of landing either are about the same, but I just have this feeling that LSU can put more local pressure on McDowell than UGA can with Shaw. Then again I think LSU fills up faster than UGA does so predicting which one we have a better shot at right now is terribly hard. I may swap them out from time to time as far as the "the guys we finish with" list. Just some thoughts if anyone cares.

Why does this thread exist when we already have a recruiting thread? Been wondering that for awhile.

It's like WIO personal ... "Hey this is what's going on" and you don't have to dig through the recruiting thread to find info.

Because I was sick of noobs asking every week who our next commit would be and who we finish the class out with. Before this thread that was a daily question.

I like this thread thank you WIO

This is honestly just a 1st page bump but I figured I'd share some changed made to the final 7.
I am convinced that Yancy has none other than Mr. Jack shite as his LA source. He was flat out wrong about Trey Quinn and anyone that keeps up with LSU recruiting at all could see that commitment coming. He is also leaning Cam Sims Bama's way because of his twitter. Now I do think recruiting can be that simple sometimes but I think it shows how good Yancy's LA sources are if he's relying on twitter.
That being said, I have lost confidence that we lead for Gerrald McDowell. Yancy thinks we lead, but every LSU person I have spoken with believes he is a silent to them. I do believe they have a number of high quality silents, but they may also assume too many. He is supposed to commit within the next two weeks, and as it gets closer, I think the truth will come out on McDowell.
Since Im assuming Yancy is wrong on McDowell I am also assuming he could be wrong on Sims. Bama people do not think he has a committable offer but they do think he would help them land Cam Robinson. Do they take him just on that assumption? He has apparently made up his mind, so like McDowell the truth should come out before he commits on the 24th.
Yancy also believes we have taken a step back with Terrance Alexander, yet another LA kid. While he could be wrong, even if he is right, this kid is such a priority for us and Stanford is currently our only competition. I like our chances in the end with the distance.
I have taken McDowell and Cam off the list of 7, but left Terrance since he is not committing as soon as the other two and because I think he is a bigger need with less competition than he other two.
I've also added the juco OT and JT Gray. The Hedelin kid is a huge need with Conyers (who was suppose to be our swing tackle next year) moving to center. He will be counted on to push both Tunsil and Golson for one of the tackle spots or provide quality depth to both starting tackles. Gray is good enough to earn an offer from USC and Oregon, and while we are pretty set at the safety and Husky position (where he projects) he is too talented of an instate kid to pass on. If we land some of the kids that are a little less than locks (McDowell, Clark, Green, Shaw, Adams, Marshall, Glass) then we may not have room or may need to make room for him, but at this moment he is more of a for sure take and lock up kind of guy than those others.
Glass may make his way onto the final 7 list given his decommitment from UGA. I really dont see him decommitting and then committing back to them. And if Nick decides to come to OM then Shaw will follow him. Glass' grades are a big question mark though and Shaw's arent exactly inline either.
I have also up'd the percentages on Webster and Morgan. Webster because our main competition, UGA is out of the picture and Morgan because he all but named us his leader after his UOV visit with his family plus with Boyd out I have a lot more confidence we whip Vandy right in front of him.

I couldn't agree more. I live in Covington and it is the biggest hotbed of LSU support in the state outside of BR. If McDowell is truly set to announce soon, that kid would be under tremendous pressure for months if he announces anything other than LSU. If he were waiting till closer to signing day I would like our chances much more.
I would love to have him but I just dont see it.

I'll make the necessary changes but looks like I was close. Swap out Pettway for Glass and I feel pretty good about that seven

I agree. Well done
Eta: OP says we have 21 spots taken but by recollection we have 20. Is that right?

I would throw in Terrance Alexander as well.
I then also would throw in a wild card or two out of the following:
Jamal Adams
Kentavious Street
Bo Scarbrough
Travonte Valentine
Jarren Reed
It will all work out. Either we get a couple of the committed guys to greyshirt or start losing phone #'s...

Yeah Alexander definitely needs to be in there. I think he would give 28.
The question becomes what do we do if we keep pursuing and gaining ground on other guys such as Scarbrough, Reed and Adams?
