We're talking about high ACT scores and college degrees. You should probably leave.

Pizza Grocery is my favorite thing about this town so far. I love that place.

@Rebelgator - I had a buddy put me on to a job in Fort Worth as a train dispatcher for BNSF about halfway through my first year. They were snatching up military air traffic controllers like mad because it's basically the same thing. I already kind of thought I didn't want to be a lawyer, so the decision to go live in a nice city and make just over 90k a year while my wife finished med school was too sweet to pass up. I figured I'd sort my career out a little bit later.

I LOVED my classes that first year, though. I really enjoyed learning everything I did, but I could just feel that being in that line of work wasn't what I wanted. Ever since I joined the military I've been more of a hands-on person. It's a complete 180 from before when I was a pretty academic guy. That's why I majored in English. Lots of reading and researching and writing.

My grades aren't quite good enough. Looking to be a nurse practitioner or anesthetist.

Hey 28 is what my wife made and she's a doctor. You can do eet!

If it's one thing I've learned from her it's that test scores don't mean shite if you don't have the drive and direction to do something with them. I score high on every standardized test I've taken (and I've taken a lot - ACT, GRE, LSAT, PRAXIS I, PRAXIS II - English), but I've never known what I wanted to do after that.

I'm pretty sure getting into nursing is going to be awesome for me, though. I really wanna work in an ER and maybe do flight nurse one day. Nutt inspired me to hepp' people.

Either would be a good choice. Nurse practitioners do just much as most family physicians now anyway.

Thank you for the words of encouragement and good look to you as well.

I plan on joining the navy after nursing school and want to work as a combat medic.

Nurse Practitioner is a better bet IMO due to higher demand with the ACA. Much higher need for Primary Care at a lower rate.

That being said I still want to be a CRNA

Navy or Air Force are the way to go. Your standard of living is just so much higher than the Army or Marines. I went Army and I wouldn't change that, but I don't suggest it to anyone else.

As a combat medic for the Navy I think you're a corpsman and typically get attached to Marine units, though. I don't know that for sure, but I know I've seen it happen like that before.

I'm thinking of trying to do that down the road, as well. It's really competitive, isn't it?

That is my plan, to work with Marines. I've always wanted to be a marine, but I can use my education to be more than just a jarhead.

OHHHH YEAH... mostly because of the extremely high pay and you really don't do a whole lot.

Talked to a CRNA on a plane once and he said that right out of school he signed a contract with the Navy. They put him in Kuwait (IIRC) and they paid for everything while he was there. 2-year contract, 250K tax free per year

You make fat bank as a military contractor.

If my wife wouldn't kill me I'd go do Air Traffic Control over there for a year or two. Similar pay to your buddy.

I'll probably end up in Kuwait in 2015 anyway doing ATC, but Uncle Sam is the one calling that play so I have no say in it.

@cbi8 - That sounds like a solid plan. They'll pay back your loans, too. That's been a sweet part of it for me.

haha I could fly home with 500K and be EXTREMELY happy. Im thinking I may sign a contract with a rural hospital somewhere where they pay back my loans if I work for them.

the way I look at it, its paying off debt AND guaranteeing me a job right out

Yeah it's hard to pass up. If you can get past the something like 25% fecal content in their air. My buddies told me it constantly smells like shite there.

Working for a rural hospital would be the way to go. Corinth has a setup like that and that's what my wife is going to do.
