We’ll learn a lot about our new rivals over the coming years, so figured a thread about their customs and traditions and history would be nice to have.

SEC FACT OF THE DAY

The LSU-Arkansas rivalry is known as the “Battle for the Boot.” LSU has won 42 of 67 all-time meetings. The trophy weighs 200 pounds, stands 4-feet tall, cost $10,000 and is molded out of 24-karat gold. The “boot” is the outline of the 2 states.

SEC FACT OF THE DAY

Why does Bama have an elephant mascot?

In 1930, Everett Strupper (Atlanta Journal) noted how much bigger Bama players were than Ole Miss wrote, “the earth started to tremble…hold your horses, the elephants are coming.” The nickname stuck.
