How long have we had a Lacrosse team? I didn't know we even had one until I read about it in a thread on the rant a few months ago.

I found this:
The University of Oklahoma Men's Lacrosse team is not a National Collegiate Athletic Association sponsored sport, but rather a student run organization.
The organization was formed in 1978 by a group of male students who all shared a love for the game and who still wanted to compete competitively while in college.
From 1978 through the 90's, the OU club would play "post-collegiate" club teams from Oklahoma State, Wichita, and Dallas. Then participate in regional tournaments in Colorado and Texas. "It was more recreational than anything else, but none the less laid the groundwork for the club in its current existence" said current Coach Klein.
In 1997 the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association program was formed, which provided a framework for organization and
regulation of college clubs.
Thirty-five years later the organization is now considered a university athletic club program, and it consists of thirty-five talented players that compete at the Division 1 level of the Lone Star Alliance Conference.
