OU allowed 1 sack when Jacob Sexton was playing.
Then after he got hurt they inserted a freshman, for an all freshman left side of the OL.
And it went a little poorly to say the least.
As frustrating as it is, we don’t know more than the staff does about who should play

Thanks for the report. I would have never guessed before the season we would have a season like this with the injuries and be so poor on OL.
I think OU Insider have their podcast up on YouTube.

I just don’t know we can even make a bowl game. To have 2 losing seasons out of last 3 would be one of worst stretches in decades. And yet we’re playing with both hands tied behind our back.
We have a TE who sucks. Playing 2 freshman in the LT/LG spots. Down top 5 WRs. New QBs.
I did see a good half of football. And then more of the same in 2nd half.
I felt JFF should have ran more in 3rd qtr but he did run some. Knowing you have a weak left side all plays should go right. Had we come out and just moved the ball it would have made a diff. We ran great in first half.
My worry is holding on to 25 class. And what to do at OC. I’ve seen people say fire BB, but that would likely lose some recruits. If either Oline or WR rooms were healthy we’d have more wins.
We can’t make wholesale staff changes due to recruiting so our OC pick will be huge. And I wonder if JA will stay or portal. He would be good in a proper situation. I think even if JA stays Hawkins stays since he’s legacy. But if JA goes then we have Hawkins and incoming Sperry. We will need to get a portal QB if JA leaves. But that will be hard based on our offensive woes, might limit who would come.
Still want to make a bowl. Mizzou might be our best chance. And LSU might fall apart if Bama beats them, so last game might be a cripple fight. Not sure we have a chance vs Bama, unless players come back healthy

Gabe says:
Gabe Ikard
@GabeIkard
86 plays for OU’s offense against Ole Miss.
OL gave up 1 sack in the first 76 plays. Gave up 5 in the last 10 plays of the game

@ToddOnSports
I thought there were 10 sacks. Are you saying that just 6 were on the o-line?

Gabe Ikard
@GabeIkard
No. 6 sacks total. TFL’s on called runs aren’t sacks in my world. Still bad plays, obviously. But not sacks.

@GabeIkard
I don’t consider the QB getting tackled on a called run a sack.
I’ve got Ole Miss down for 6 sacks but they had a boat load of TFL’s.

So here’s some great OLine info:
Tom Green
@Tomas_Verde
Oklahoma’s OL is among the worst in FBS this year, but Brent Venables is confident in Bill Bedenbaugh’s ability to develop the room.
“He's consumed with it — to make it better, help his guys. He has a lot of pride and a lot of toughness and fight in him”
——
Dave Bartoo
@CFBMatrix
Context why? Bad hs recruiting evals on a lot of guys? Low hs ol recruit g numbers? Too many transfers u don't have time to develop? Too many down transfers?
@OU_CoachB has one of the best OL coach career grades since 2010 so why the seemingly anomaly this year?

@Tomas_Verde
Combination of early departures, misses/misevaluations, injuries that have limited cohesion. Asked Venables specifically about the difficulty of rebuilding via portal last week. Insightful response:
