Found this great summary so figured I’d post it as I learned some new info:

All by this guy,
Thad Wells
@ThadWells

6 years ago, Ben Arbuckle was delivering Uber Eats in order to pursue his dream.

4 years later he became the youngest P4 coordinator in America at 27.

Today, he's making $1.5M as Oklahoma's OC.

This is the story of Arbuckle's quick climb to becoming a Power 4 coordinator.

At the end of the thread I'll be posting a link to get his top 100+ plays while at WSU.

And for those who are just here for a good story...Enjoy!

In 2018, Arbuckle lasted a few months at a corporate finance job.

He was "punching numbers and hated every second."

The boredom was killing him.

A friend called about an unpaid volunteer coaching position at Houston Baptist.

Within 20 minutes, Arbuckle had quit his stable job and taken the volunteer role.

His wife Lauren was pursuing grad school at the time.

The coaching job paid nothing.

Arbuckle started delivering Uber Eats during lunch breaks and after practice.

Lauren, his wife, was in grad school for occupational therapy while working as a nanny.

They survived on $1,600 per month.

But Arbuckle found his calling working with quarterbacks.

His mentor Zach Kittley taught him the game and how to build relationships.

The grind was worth it because he finally felt alive.

His first major success came with Bailey Zappe at Houston Baptist.

Zappe went from no-star recruit to setting NCAA records.

5,967 passing yards and 62 touchdowns in a single season.

When Kittley moved to Western Kentucky, he called Arbuckle.

"Do you want to come?"

Arbuckle said yes.

At Western Kentucky, Arbuckle got promoted to co-offensive coordinator.

He developed Austin Reed into the nation's leading passer with 4,746 yards.

Throwing for more than Heisman winner Caleb Williams that year.

Washington State hired Arbuckle as their offensive coordinator at 27.

He was officially the youngest Power 4 coordinator in America.

The kid who delivered food was now calling plays on national TV.

His first quarterback at Washington State was Cam Ward.

Under Arbuckle's development, Ward threw 25 TDs against 7 interceptions.

Ward transferred to Miami, became a Heisman finalist, and went #1 in the NFL Draft.

In 2024, Arbuckle coached John Mateer to historic numbers.

Mateer became the only QB in America with 20+ passing TDs and 10+ rushing TDs.

He led all of college football with 44 total touchdowns.

Oklahoma's offense had collapsed to historically bad levels.

They ranked 124th nationally in yards per play.

Brent Venables needed a miracle worker

Oklahoma offered Arbuckle $1.5 million over 3 years.

From $1,600 per month to $1.5 million annually.

The ultimate proof that betting on yourself pays off.

Here's why Arbuckle is in demand:

Landing an elite QB changes everything for a program overnight.

Every starting quarterback he's coached achieved elite success.

Zappe set NCAA records, Reed led the nation, Ward went #1 overall.

The lesson isn't just about football.

It's about having the courage to leave comfortable situations that make you miserable.

Most people stay trapped in jobs they hate because it feels safe.

Arbuckle delivered food at midnight because he believed in his future.

That belief turned him into a millionaire coach at 29.

Will he be the one who saves Venerable's career?
