We don’t talk about it enough but Brent has some really great D coaches. Offense is still to be decided and will need to have an OC with another year to see how they pan out. I do think BB is still good and has been hampered by other coaches and OC stability.
Bates was an under the radar type get and its paying off. He’s built an D line that we need to compete in SEC.
Also can’t forget our Special Teams coach. He brought in Tate. And he has them playing great even blocking field goals.

Getting Dominic was a huge get 2 years ago. It started our path to the dline we have now

Look at what Brent has done. Amazing rebuild. Taken plenty of lumps along the way but he has been persistent in his defensive rebuild.

Brent Venables bet on himself after last season, taking over defensive playcalling. And it’s paid off. Now in Year 4 under Venables, the defense is seeing the fruits of Venables and his staff’s labor.
The year-over-year improvement is staggering.

Here's five full minutes of Brent Venables today talking about the conversations he has with his coaches and players during games - so much good stuff:
"Hey Ben (Arbuckle), they're not going to get another first down in the game. Let's manage it well."
"I probably say that eight drives per game. 'This is the most important drive of the game.' And I really feel that in the moment."
"Celebrate the things we asked them to do...Go over there and double punch somebody right in the freaking chest because they did what you've been talking about. This is what winning looks like. I don't always want it to be me, the lunatic head coach."
"The kids like it when the coach is having fun, too."
"(Grayson Miller) had to hear an earful. Next thing you know, he put it inside the 10...Grayson can take a butt-chewing and respond the right way."
A great listen 5 minutes worth

We owe a lot to him for helping our anemic offense. He loves OU and has proven himself
