OU lost to Bama in a good game. We got down 4-0 but clawed back in the game. Then took a 6-5 lead in top of 8th. But for some reason B8 Skip left our pitcher in after he walked the leadoff batter and things went south.
And after a bunch of pitches we are down 8-6. One of few times I fault him for not bringing in our closer timely.
Hate to lose a winnable game. I think if he changes pitchers we win. In SEC you have to take advantage as each game is a grind. Gotta win today.
And please, just walk Lebron! Guy is a superstar for Bama

OU takes a 6-5 win in a wire to wire 6-5 classic. Struck out batter looking on 3-2 count, pitch was likely a ball but makeup for base obstruction call possibly

Lost 8-6. Were down 8-1. Too many errors early cost them. But was a great series, came up short 1-2. Now 2-1 in SEC series. Team always fights back.

Should be a great series. Gonna cool off a bit weather wise and rain in future so we’ll see how it goes. Looking forward to playing LSU at home

Any word on if yall are sticking with your pitching rotation or mixing it up to keep the Friday/ Saturday starters on schedule? Kyson(i think that's his name) vs Anderson would be a hell of a primetime matchup Thursday night.

No new news but assume same

Beat Taco Tech 8-6. LSU inbound for wet weekend.

Good game. Witherspoon is legit and the pitching duel lived up to the billing. Anderson had a great night but you guys still had your opportunities and hit him better than the 14 K's make it sound.
Hopefully we get the full 3 game series.

Man, we ran into a buzzsaw. That LSU pitcher was on one. He went the 9 full innings and just could not bust through.
Amazing how Kyson is pitching so well yet gets no run support. My take is he always gets game 1 which is usually best on best pitchers. And our batters take a game to warm up so he is getting none where others get more.
But in the big scheme of things it was a great game. Rare to see that kind of pitching from both sides. Hats off to LSU pitcher mowing us down so easily. We played a great game but he was just greater and all you can do is tip your hat.

That 1st inning was devastating, getting runners on 2nd & 3rd followed by two strikeouts to end the inning

LSU's game 2 starter, Eyanson, typically doesn't go past 4-5 innings. He has good stuff, but gets his pitch count up early. Oklahoma should get their shot at the tiger bullpen tonight, which can be shaky.
If Eyanson can go six innings in another close game, you may only see Cowan out of the pen.
Has OU announced the starter for tonight?

Haven’t seen a name yet.
Our bats have been mostly good this year but last 3 starts for our best pitcher they have sucked. I expect a more offensive minded game tonight.
As great as LSU was last night Kyson and Hitt pitched a great game too and that gets lost in the shuffle to a degree. LSU has the best hitting in SEC to date and holding them to 2 was a great outing. They just had a pitcher who was better at shutting our bats off.
Had we scored 2 that first inning and LSU getting their 2 - these teams might still be playing this morning lol. Was a great pitchers duel. I really appreciate that because nowadays in all sports offense is so celebrated. Rare to have a defensive game like last night especially in college.

Tonight’s pitching matchup
-#Sooners (23-6, 5-5)will start Cade Crossland
19.1 innings pitched, 18ER, 20H, 29K’s. Had his best outing a week ago in Tuscaloosa going 6.0, 2ER & 6K’s
-Tigers (28-3, 8-2) will throw UC-San Diego transfer Andrew Ayanson, 4-0, 3.89 ERA, 37.0 innings pitched, has allowed 16ER & struck out 58. Ayanson went 5.0 against Mississippi State last weekend in a 2-1 win, striking out 12
Another stiff challenge on the mound for OU bats tonight

Good game so far. Ump has had a consistent low zone, and I don't think either team's batters have adjusted for it yet
ETA that pitch to end the 4th was a perfect example of that low zone call.
Also, at this rate, I'm wondering which team will go to their pen first. Eyanson is usually around 80 pitches by the 4th

Man, LSU is really good. We are a good team but had no answers for them.

It reminded me of OU vs. Ole Miss in the 2022 CWS. We looked like a bunch of freshmen & sophomores. They looked like a bunch of 5th year seniors.
Anyway, GGs Tigers.

I think we left 24 on bases in the series. Then we never got the key hits and they did. Thats likely maturity and pitching diff.
If we don’t make that early error game 3, we won that game. True freshman 2nd baseman has been great this year and made an error. Getting the lead can make a big difference.
Game 1 was a duel. Our pitcher just had one bad inning but thats all it took.
Game 2 was a blowout.
So the takeaway is if we could change 2 innings (in 27) then it could have been a different outcome. Of course you can’t but it does show how competitive our team is. Just that much can make such a huge difference.
Still have a chance at a great year and should be better down the stretch. That LSU team os legit and we went toe to toe for 2 of the 3 games.
