I think we can fix most of the problems. Keep (pay) key players. QB competition, assuming Mateer comes back. Fix the run game is a huge priority. Oline fixes too. Get a TE game going. Pay some WRs.
I agree it was a great season. All but one team ends in loss. Non playoff teams can win but they failed in making playoffs. And all but one playoff team loses.
We had a monster schedule 2 years in a row. We survived qb injury and STs and defense got us thru. Mateer made some great passes last night except the pick 6. And a key drop plus STs lapses failed us.
Can’t win it if not in it. Next year can take another big leap.

Hope so I'm expecting us to be better next year. Love how the recruiting is improving.
Woke up with a sick feeling this morning about how last night was a blown opportunity that we let slip through our fingers.
That interception was horrible.

It was. But the XR drop changed the whole game. Some say Mateer shoulda ran it. He had a first down plus more in front. But he took a chance on an open receiver and placed the ball in front in stride which is all any qb can do. It was just dropped and hindsight says run it but foresight showed an open player. Then its 4-3. We get 5 yard penalty and its 4-8. Then the muff and blocked punt.
Our D held them to FG but it coulda been 24-0 if XR catches.
And then the pick 6 after they got FG to make it 17-10. We should have been running it was working. We took a sack play before pick 6 meaning we weren’t running. It was first down with 1:37 left when we took sack. And 2nd and 13 when we threw pick 6. If we run 3 times we might break one. At worst we run clock and make them burn timeouts and we punt.
Those are the plays that compound the drop amd the blocked punt. At that point you have to go in ahead 17-10, and cut your losses. That was on both Arbuckle and Mateer.

We must fix this!!! Blaylock is our only reliable RB need to spend for playmakers (not for Otts)

Fixing OU’s regressing run game isn’t a preference or a talking point — it’s an immediate necessity.
