Ordered my first Windows PC since windows XP was a thing. I've been working as a graphic designer (and student before that) on mac for over 10 years. Its gonna be nice having an opinion on a Steam Sale again

Idk what that means. Apex Legends is free like Fortnite, except it doesn't suck or have all that gay building shite.
Also, I'm not even 100% sure whether twitch is a website or an app
but one time mizzoukillz gave me a shoutout when he called into Paul Finebaum and I imagine that's a similar feeling to your meme, except it was free for me

Ive never played fortnite so I wouldn't know. Just know that it and Apex are both battle royale
The meme refers to gen z or zoomers who are obsessed with fort nite and helped cause the battle royale trend

Back in the day I used to watch free stuff on Justin.Tv. Apparently Bezos bought it and made it Twitch and now people can't swear. That's all I know about Twitch.

The latest CoD has Battle Royale and I assume it's usual mediocre story line, if that's what you mean by hero shooter. But it's not like anybody really bought CoD for the story line anyway.
Even shooters like Halo that actually had a good story mode, people were buying it more for the online play than anything else.

I don't think the new CoD even had a story line. They're literally doing the CoD 2019 meme at this point.

Basically means its an fps game with a roster of characters to choose from who have different abilities and thus each has unique advantages and disadvantages to them. The characters are not equal in most/all ways. People choose who to play as and face off against other "heros" in multiplayer.
For example QC has Doomguy who has a berserk power up, Ranger (Quake I) who has a teleportation ability, and BJ Blaskowitz (Wolfenstein) who has a duel wield ability. Characters have varying speeds, strength, etc

Theres some cross over between Battle Royale and "hero shooters" Im not sure on all of the specifics but QC and Overwatch are heroshooters where as Fort Nite, Pubg, etc are battle royale

I suck at most of these mmo first person shooters anyway. The only one I was ever really decent at was Halo and zombie Nazi mode on CoD.
I'm actually enjoying Apex Legends though. I still suck, but it's been a while since i really spent a whole lot of time on a first person shooter. I'll destroy you on Madden though, probably 2k too
