Tis the season to be thankful

Hi all,
I'm sure this has been mostly a terrible year for everyone. I have been blessed to not have a close family member or friend pass away as a result of the virus, but I do have family who have gotten it, but recovered.
During our church service this morning, the pastor talked about being thankful during the holiday season, and at the end of the service had two ladies come up on stage. They were both local business owners (restaurants) and he wanted to thank them and ask them how their businesses were functioning during this time, and they described how difficult is has been on their employees. Each employ about 15 people.
When they were finished, he gave them each a present from the church, it was a bunch of $100 gift cards, one for each of their employees. They were visibly moved by this.
It got my wife and I to talking at lunch about doing something similar. We have been very lucky this year overall, not been sick, not lost any jobs or pay, and want to pay it forward.
We are going to start with getting $500 in $10 bills, and giving each server we have at any restaurants we frequent between now and Christmas $50. I thought the $10 bills would be so they could share some with other staff as they see fit.
I challenge any of you, who have the means, to do something similar in your local community and bring good cheer to workers you may encounter.

We have done it twice now. I'm enjoying it so far. 2020 has been so miserable for almost everyone.

Speak for yourself, it hasn't impacted me negatively one bit, just the opposite.

Not sure what this says, but in my post I said "mostly" everyone. I realize those in the service industry are making money hand over fist because people who have not lost jobs or income are doing home improvements and such instead of traveling.

I agree. I have found myself complaining about stuff way too much, yet my job is stable, I have a nice home, family in reasonably good health. Not much more matters.
I read stories on the news or online about people who have lost loved ones, or had tragedies occur, kids losing parents, etc. My problems are not problems at all in the big picture of things. Always be thankful, even in the difficult times. Live is precious and fleeting.
