Yes, Mobile had the first Mardi Gras. How many people changed their trip reservations after seeing that billboard to go to Mobile instead?

While I approve of trolling LSU in general... yeah I got to go with Wade here.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is an Event. Mardi Gras in Mobile... not so much.

Its like comparing the fireworks display in DC against one you might see in Podunkville. One is an amazing event... the other is something you go to if the cable is down that night.

Well you clearly have not only never been, but have not a clue about Mardi Gras in Mobile. Just because it's bigger in New Orleans doesn't mean its not big on Mobile too. Its the second biggest Mardi Gras in the world.

So because he didn't make a social media post at the end of the 17th century marking the exact details it doesn't count? More likely it just wasn't written down and if it was it was lost to history.

More likely they just didn't do anything to celebrate. How much sense does it make to throw a parade or do anything remotely associated with celebrating Mardi Gras in the middle of a Louisiana swamp in the 1600's with nobody aroubd but you and your crew of sailors? Not a damn bit. Its a completely ridiculous notion to even entertain.
