Just had another one born a 3am. Didn't take a picture but here are some from the last couple days.

This calf was born Sunday and have 4 more born since then.

After I check my cameras and pens I check pastures in the mornings. Weathers been nice enough to do it with a motorcycle instead of a JD Gator or truck.

Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so we are trying to get fertilizer on. Counting yesterday and what we will put on today think the total so far will be 24 tons at $560 per ton. Farming/Ranching would be more profitable without the high cost of fertilizer and insurance but you have to have it lol.

These feeders do a great job not wasting hay unless the wind blows 30 and 40 mph gust then they work as well as the other feeders. Using this style of hay feeders cut down our hay waste 25%.

Thanks

No but I'll check it out. I never heard of it.

The Bikes a 200. Should have got the 400. 200 4 stroke has about the same power as my old 125 2 stroke engine. It's doggy trying to make the speed limit on the highway.

How much land you have? I'm jealous. I would love to farm all day.

720 acres.

Today wasn't a fun day.

Started at 3am with a cow calving. Stayed up to make sure the calf got up and sucked.
Calf got out of the pen under a gate.
Tagged calf and put it back in with its momma.
The rest of the day was feeding cattle and spreading fertilizer.
Turned pregnant cows out into a main lot to hay.
Cleaned excess manure out of a cow lot.
Put cows back in calving lot for the night.
Spread more fertilizer using tractor lights and GPS.
Finally finished for the day so I thought.
I just got through eating a piece of pizza and noticed a cow in one of my cameras calving in a barn.
Cow stopped trying when she got the calf to its hips so I had to finish pulling it.
Got back in the house around 8pm

Hopefully tomorrow I can see a chiropractor my neck and shoulder have been killing me for over a week.

How many head of cattle do you have?

My son's dream is to ranch cattle and is working towards that after just finishing school. Good for you Roughneck.

My son just loves the ranch life

I have a little over 200. Have a storm rolling in now and have 2 cows calving in my lots so today is full of challenges.

Hopefully they don't need any help calving because there is a lot of lightning flashing around.

Thanks I need all the luck I can have some days. Hope your son lives his dream. It's a tough life sometimes but there are some really good days too.
