Upgrading from dial up to fiber.
Internet company wants to charge $10/month rental fee so I would like to buy one outright. Thanks.

Make sure you can use your own router. Some, like ATT won't allow it. I'm a netgear fan, but there are many good options.

The one I just bought off amazon says 2500sq ft and my house is 2000 sq ft so I hope that is big enough. I don't believe I need mesh but would be nice to have.
I'm coming from cable and had 3 google wifi pucks and I could walk my dog down the street and still have wifi

Whatever company you’re getting service from will publish a list of approved devices. Pick one off of Amazon that is from 2022 or later from that list.
