My wife has been subpoenaed and is set to be deposed for her parents' extremely ugly divorce. She's so preoccupied with the emotions dealing with having to give a statement to her mother's attorney, that she really hasn't been able to mentally prepare for what kind of shite she is going to be asked. (For the record, her mother is a damned mess, and is accusing her dad of some shite he never did so she can milk him for everything he has).

I know frick all about civil/family law. What should we expect for a deposition in a divorce hearing? Will this be in front of just the other attorney, or in front of both attorneys and the judge? Both spouses trying to split up?

Apologize for the ignorance, but this is uncharted territory for me. Thanks in advance.

Generally all the lawyers (and I'm pretty sure a judge) are there and your wife needs to hire a good one!!! The mom's lawyer will try to make your wife look like an idiot if she says anything that doesn't help their case. Time to lawyer up.

There was no judge the one deposition I had to give, but it wasn't a divorce or family court. I don't think there is typically a judge, just the two opposing attorneys and a court reporter.

I for one, am tired of all these illegal cats crossing our boarders illegally and taking all of us legal cat's mice

ETA: I've been in several in a situation involving a will contest and every time it was just attorneys, the ppl they represented, and a court reporter
