I'm considering applying to Vanderbilt for its graduate program in economics, and was wondering if any of you guys had any thoughts about the campus? How is the weather there generally? I'm from the Los Angeles area and the farthest I've gone east was Utah

Lots of pros....

Nashville is an awesome city. The area is booming and there's some really nice shite there now. It's not the old Nashville it once was. Area is full of grad students/recent college grads.

Vandy has smokin hot women

Nashville has smokin hot women

And yea... The school is alright too

Cons:

-price to attend Vandy

The fact you're even asking this question says you have your shite a lot more together than I do.

The upside of Vandy is that it's in Nasvhille and it's easy to make connections useful for the future all around the city -- politicians and rich folks abound if you know how to navigate the right circles. But probably the biggest upside of any school like Vanderbilt is a well connected almumni base that can help you in the future but if you're looking for that why not go Ivy?

However, there are cheaper options out there including several public schools with higher rankings for their econ graduate programs. And depending on what you want to do that matters as well.

Like blkhawk said, Nashville is a great city, and I also agree with him about the women in that town, it is stacked with hot arse. Thats about all I got.

Vanderbilt and the surrounding area is awesome.

The weather from November-March sucks and you might not see the sun but 10 times a month until spring arrives but I love it there.

No city is overcast skies more than Nashville, TN. I'm convinced of it.

I'm considering Vandy for my MBA. Nashville is a great city and is turning into one of the best for young professional types. Campus is nice and in a good part of town. You'll find people from all over the country/world there so while the south might be a bit of a culture shock coming from the west coast, Nashville won't exactly be like moving to Tuscaloosa.

Spot on. Seattle may be overcast more often, but that's the only one that jumps to mind. I love the city, but November-April aren't its greatest months.

the only con is the price

if you have scholarships and family has money, go for it

or if you'll be in a profession that pays well immediately, go for it

vandy's pros are endless
