I would buy 500 acres somewhere, build a bunch of buildings and spend the rest of my life adopting unadoptable animals and care for the rest of their lives or mine, whichever ends first.

This is no joke for me. I told the wife if she dies before me and I'm able, I am going to buy land, build buildings as needed and spend my days and nights taking care of unadoptable animals and giving them the best life I can for as long as I can.

That's an honorable cause I hope you have that someday. 
Last dog we just got was a shelter dog. It's the only way for us to get one now. If you want to feel a warm glow look at their happy face when you are taking them home.

Yep, shelter dogs are awesome. I have 2 now. I would adopt them all if I could.
