Send the principal and teacher a letter telling them they're up for an award and the ceremony will be away from the school; at the nearest crack house. Be there with a camera to record them at the crack house. Pay back is a bitch

Doesn't seem silly to me, although at this point I'm not sure how they can properly fix it for your daughter. That's a shame for her though.

Thank you very much. I will do. If anything it'll never happen again with the current administration.
Yeah, I wouldn't bet on it.

Tough situation for your daughter. I'd call the school and request a meeting with the principal and counselor and involve your daughter in it. I'd be pretty forgiving because shite happens, but I think exposing your daughter to that lesson that shite happens is a pretty good teaching opportunity.

Not silly at all. This mix up has given you the opportunity to teach your daughter 2 very important lessons:
1. How to handle a situation with grace and maturity (as opposed to counselor).
2. More importantly, that she should strive/achieve for the sake of her own betterment and her own personal satisfaction. The approval/recognition/outside reward/etc should not be a prime motivator, if a significant factor at all.
