I hope you're wrong but I agree. These young players just will not turn down the first big extension with this new CBA when it gets offered. Paul George was offered the same deal by Indiana earlier this year and signed it without hesitation.

Kobe Bryant has already called LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

"The Lakers had this idea where they could clear enough [cap] room where they could get [LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony] but then they’d only play for $16 million per year. I don’t think that was ever that realistic. Plus, Kobe [Bryant] was going to have to sell them [on the idea] and say, “It would be just like the Olympic team where I play defense and you guys be the stars.” [Kobe] actually did that. He actually did call both of them and talked to them about it but the sense I get is that neither of them are playing for $16 million each … I think all of this is just these guys having leverage. I think Melo goes back to New York and LeBron goes back to Miami."

I don't really understand why he wouldn't be open to going other places. He may make more money playing for Cleveland but he's not going to win anything significant there.

Yeah Bosh is on vacation and not listening to other teams. Wade walked away from a ton money.

So I was listening to the BS report and was wondering what y'all think of Bill Simmons idea for the Lakers.

He said they should go out this offseason and try to sign a bunch of guys to some slightly overpriced 2 year deals to help Kobe make one last run.

The reason he said 2 year deals because KD becomes a free agent the off season right after that and the Lakers could offer him the keys to the franchise.

Mike Bresnahan ?@Mike_Bresnahan 42s Free agency has officially started. Right about now, Lakers are calling reps for LeBron James + Carmelo Anthony, trying to set up meetings. Prepared to be on hold for a very long time as all other teams are doing the same thing.

RTR, you may be onto something.

Mark Medina ?@MarkG_Medina 25s Lakers like Kyle Lowry, Luol Deng, Trevor Ariza, Chandler Parsons. Lakers won't offer them more than 1-2 year deals, though

We should easily be able to build a playoff team with many of the FA out there.

I'm sorry Kyrie but you just made the worst decision of your life. It's not even debatable.

I posted this on the MSB but figured I would get better responses here. How would you fellow Laker fans like this?

Sign Bledsoe (12M) and Stephenson (10M) to long term contracts. Bring back Pau on a 2 year deal (8-10M).

Bledsoe
Stephenson
Kobe
Randle
Gasol

I think that's a playoff team that could make some noise. Also, we've just gotten much younger and we would still have plenty of cap space to offer Kevin Durant the full max in 2016. Randle, Stephenson and Bledsoe would be a pretty strong core going forward and would be a great supporting cast for KD.

Thoughts?

If you can add them and still have enough space to add KD when the time comes, and a solid bench, I would be 100% down. I like Stephenson's game, he was money this postseason and has been more than solid before that. The key is:

Still have the room to sign a solid bench

If you can't do that, it doesn't matter what superstar you have.

Well with my hypothetical situation, we would have about 5M left in camp space for this offseason. If we could somehow dump Nash to somebody we would have more but without any assets to attach him to, we will most likely just stretch his contract.

We would be able to bring back Swaggy P, Farmar, Sacre,Kelly and maybe Bazemore for the bench.

And as long as we give them no longer than 2year contracts, we would have around 35M in cap space for 2016.

Apparently the Grizz will have max cap space next offseason even if we resign Marc Gasol to a max deal. Going to be interesting to see what type of Free Agent we can convince to come here to play along with Zbo, Gasol, Tony Allen, and Mike Conley.

Nash has always been one of my favorites. When he and D12 went to LA in 2012 I thought he was gonna finally get his ring. I hate it for him. He's a champion at heart.
