Cop screwed up, suspect is going to be paid and rightly so.

Most LEO's are not "highly trained". In fact they may get some annual classroom training after whatever academy they attend

It appears to me that the one size fits all approach doesn't work with police. You need traffic cops, and then you need teams trained to deal with more serious matters.

Roger, don't mean to be directing this at you specifically, just your post, but why should someone like this be paid for anything more than medical expenses for the injury? Wasn't he a criminal they were looking for? Does that not count anymore?

I'm really curious. I don't really remember when I was a kid that criminals got paid every time they had an encounter with police that resulted in injury.

It doesn't give a cop the right to use deadly force. Cop fired before making any identification and no sight of a firearm.

You can't just shoot people.

Well cops had clearly identified they were searching for someone and you had someone hiding behind a mattress, and from the view I saw, you couldn't tell whether they had a weapon or not.

Does that person not have a responsibility to identify themselves and if they are unarmed at all? Do we have no personal responsibility anymore?

She literally shot him out of nerves.

Guaranteed she didn't mean to actually pull that trigger. Her "OH shite" reaction tells you she just fricked up.

Too many chickenshits playing tough guy or girl behind badges. Then when the shite goes down they realize that badge does not give them any superpowers.

This has nothing to do with the fact a cop shot a guy out of fear and it's illegal.

Nah, he's right.

You don't put your finger on that trigger until you're going to shoot.
