Need help on DVD Amplifier

Not getting sound. Hooked up coax but not sure.
Audio out from Directv box goes to audio in then audio out to speakers correct. Then use Aux setting isn’t that right because power source for speakers is the amp?

Get hdmi cable and run it from hdmi out on dvd to hdmi in on receiver(amp).
Then set “Source” on receiver to hdmi channel
Then set “Source” on receiver to hdmi channel

not sure what dvd is
