Dude I said the same thing. I watched the little intro they did and was like "ok hell yeah I'll watch this".
Then they showed the countdown clock and it said "race begins in 90 minutes"

I stayed up for it. Sure had a lot of sparks flying from the bottom of the cars.
Thought I heard them say it cost $500 million to get the course set up for the race. A lot of money for 50 laps.

Dude, the aerial shots of them and how FAST they get down the strip portion is incredible... ho-lee-fuk
A lot of Vegas first timers don't realize how long the strip is. Albeit, walking is obviously different. But watching how quickly they made it down the straightaways was awesome

Check out the telemetry speed heading into Turn 12, when Verstappen got into Russell (Lap 25, or about 3:14 on the video)

the fact they can go from 190 to 70 for a turn in 1.6 seconds is mind warping. I really followed Indycar this spring for the first time. They’re right there with F1 for mechanical wizardry.
