How'd your area fare?

NWA is just under 550,000 as of last July. The two-county region of Benton and Washington counties is now up over 508,000 by itself.

Here you go, nerds: LINK

The scary thing is that they expect the NW Arkansas population to at least double in the next twenty years.

There are a lot of quality growth ares in the SEC footprint.

Surely not. I fricking hate the idea of that. The only upside to that possibility is that the majority of the growth will undoubtedly be in Benton County rather than Fayetteville/Springdale. On the other hand, Fayetteville set a single-year record for single family house permits in 2018. I'd expect the 2020 census to reflect a rather large jump over whatever it is estimated at for 2018. It seems like they can't build houses fast enough in Fayetteville right now. And it fricking sucks.

Here are the SEC hometown Metropolitan Statistical Area (and in the case of MS, "Micropolitan Statistical Areas") population estimates for July 1, 2018:

Nashville: 1,930,961 (14 counties)
Knoxville: 883,309 (5 counties)
Columbia: 832,666 (6 counties)
Baton Rouge: 831,310 (9 parishes)
Fayetteville/NWA: 549,128 (4 counties)
Lexington: 516,697 (6 counties)
Gainesville: 288,212 (2 counties)
College Station: 262,431 (3 counties)
Tuscaloosa: 243,575 (3 counties)
Athens: 211,306 (1 county)
CoMo: 180,005 (5 counties)
Auburn: 163,941 (1 county)
Oxford: 54,793 (1 county)
Starkville: 49,599 (1 county)

I added the number of counties included in the defined MSA for perspective. Some only consist of 1 county, while Nashville has 14 counties as a part of its MSA.
