For those that are woefully uninformed, this skit happens to be the reason "spam" has come to mean "junk messages" on the Internet. Much respect to Monty Python for originating such a well-known (if negatively connotative) definition.

I first saw Holy Grail when I was 15. I'm not sure another single work had as much impact as that movie did on my sense of humor. No wait, I am sure. It definitely had the biggest affect on my sense of humor. If you were to ask me to rank the biggest affects on how I view comedy, and I know you were about to, here it is:

1. Search for the Holy Grail
2. Seinfeld
3. Blazing Saddles
4. The comedy of Steven Wright

If you had to rank what you perceive to be those things most affecting you in terms of how you now view comedy, what would such a list look like?

ETA: Damn it

Not at all like Monty Python, though with some witty observations in it, but if you can find it watch Michael Palin's "Himalayas" series. Absolutely gorgeous scenery, exotic cultures, and poor Michael Palin trying to not to die while hiking up mountains in oh my sweet Jesus high altitudes.

I think I read where early Saturday Night Live gave Monty Python a lot of credit for inspiration they modeled SNL after.
