My understanding is he wanted to commit, but take a couple visits he already has scheduled as well.
The coaches wouldn't accept his commitment, but they told him they still have a spot for him and it's his if he wants to take it. If someone else takes it first though...
He still may end up here.

So, he didn't really want to commit. He wanted to claim a spot, but leave his options open.
This is why I hate to get excited about 17-18 year old boys.

Yeah, I stopped being excited by 17-18 year old boys about the time I stopped being an 18 year old girl.
