I spent several years living in the Kirkwood/Glendale area and absolutely loved it. I made a lot of great friends and really enjoyed everything the area had to offer. I never had any issues with crime, but it's worth noting that I was a bit outside the actual STL city limits.
The cost of living is pretty reasonable—comparable to what you might find in cities like Charlotte or other mid-sized areas.
One of the things I loved most about St. Louis is that there's always something going on. Whether it’s Cardinals games, Blues hockey, or City SC soccer, there’s no shortage of entertainment. The food scene is fantastic, too, with unique options all over the city, especially if you love Italian food—The Hill is a must-visit.
All in all, I’ve lived in a lot of places, from Alaska to Florida and several states in between, and St. Louis easily ranks in my top three. Now that I’m living in Little Rock, I find myself missing STL on a regular basis.

This haha. Heard it all the time even at Mizzou.
I was always confused by that as I went to hs in Denver.
