The whole idea really here is no committing if your not ready to sign.

But this still doesnt answer what if a school is trying to hurry a kid into a commitment/signature. The fact of the matter is, if you are lower on their priority list they force you to make the decision on their schedule. The kid cant just wait until all of his offers come in or when he is completely comfortable with his choice. The school will control this kid for the next 4 years. Its ok if the kid has a little freedom before then.

On top of that, what if a coach gets fired or a position coach leaves? I think those are legitimate reasons for decommitting.

But all in all, we are dealing with 16-17 year old kids. For situations of which a kid just made a decision too fast, did he frick up? Yes, we can agree to that. But is sticking it to him afterwards or show him up as an example the answer? Not really. What you have to realize is, especially at that age, kids get caught up in the limelight some. Get ahead of themselves and make a rash decision because they have all this sudden attention. You hope that kids have a good support system but not in all cases they do. In a situation like Ed Ray, I was pissed. But I wouldnt force him to be here if he didnt want to be. Guys like him are way more of the exception than the standard, as we dont talk/think about as much the kids that commit and then sign. And honestly, we are an attractive enough place and a lot better off with a bunch of those kind of guys than some kids who just got caught up making a teenage mistake.
