Well, it looks dead as shite but I guess that should be expected on a rainy Tuesday evening. Usually the place is very active especially on the weekends.

Regardless, I'm very happy you got to see it and hopefully it'll entice you to come back for an actual leisurely vacation to Top of the Rock and Big Cedar Lodge.

That wine cellar architecture is incredible, isn't it? No place like it in America that I'm aware of.

Did you walk out of the wine cellar to the infinity pool overlooking Table Rock. I know it's dark, but you should be able to see residential lights glimmering off the dark lake waters.

Have fun the rest of the time you're here.

Gracias kills. It was indeed dead. The road leading to to welcome center felt like a trap that you set for opposing fans where I would never be heard from again (it was that dark).

I would have never had made the trek out there without your badgering so I thank you sir. That is a jewel which I assume is unknown to most.

I am currently sitting at old chicago at the landing. 3 dollar pints of everything.

Were you at least impressed with the place? Sorry it was dead. Usually it isn't. But, now you know how incredibly cool TotR is for future reference.

Also, I knew that you could just head back to The Landing and drink at one of several bars there as a backup plan.

Waxy O'Shea's is a solid bar and popular with the locals. Cantina Laredo is nice and sits right next to the water and fire show.

I messaged my whole family and friends telling them how awesome it was. I can't express how awesome of a place that was. I hate huge crowds so tonight was perfect for me to enjoy everything.

All I ever knew about Branson were the dumb commercials you always see during the holidays.

SoMo is absolutely my type of place. Haven't been to many other areas in the state but the ozarks are God's country.

My only regret is that I didn't hit golf balls by myself on the range.

I live in Springfield so I'm only 35 miles north of you. I seriously thought about driving down there to meet you at Top of the Rock. I could easily sell Branson because I truly believe in it (other than Hwy 76 strip).

My wife and I have a boat and family condo on Table Rock Lake. We spend at least one week each year at Big Cedar Lodge. We now go to Top of the Rock for date nights or an afternoon drink. We take our children on nature bike rides at Dogwood Canyon. We love The Landing for focusing on the younger demographic.

We love this area and whether or not we stay in SWMO for the entirety of our professional life...we certainly plan to retire on Table Rock Lake.

The place is freaking amazing. And you didn't even see the area in the day time. Completely different in the day.

There's a reason that Branson is one of the most popular family destinations in the country and it isn't because of the shows anymore.

It's because of the combination of an incredible lake, rivers to float, hiking and zip lining, top notch entertainment, Silver Dollar City, and places like The Landing, Top of the Rock, Big Cedar Lodge, and Dogwood Canyon.

SWMO is not the stereotype depicted in Winter's Bone. Not even close.

Well, it sounds like you, your family, and friends need to consider coming here for a week or two.

There's an unbelievable amount of exciting stuff to do here.

Think of SWMO as a nature lovers Disney Land. You can be here for two weeks and not experience everything.

Hell I wish you had made the trip down. You could have picked me out easy as hell haha. I am always by myself on these trips. It's great to meet people. Although you would have had to of walked in and said "it's showtime!"

I would've said something like, "Are you an Auburn fan? If so, let's go hit some golf balls and have a drink. Bartender...two High West Double Ryes on the rocks please. Now, let's talk about how Mizzou is going to beat Auburn in the SECCG this year."

That would have seriously made the frickin trip. I was more an "urban explorer" than a participant (other than my bourbon I had with bill the buffalo).

I will be going back to Mercy in the next few weeks and will most likely be having to stay in springfield so I will give you a heads up so we can get some rye.

Nah. It just means you have to take her there. I recommend one if the private cabins at Big Cedar. Glassed in whirlpool tub wih a view of the stone fireplace and the lake outside?

yeah, you need to schedule an actual non-work related vacation with the wife to Big Cedar Lodge. Top of the Rock is Big Cedar Lodge's newest addition. In fact, they are currently building a private scenic road that will connect the two properties eliminating Highway 86 altogether.

You and your wife would love it. And I guarantee you that once you stay at Big Cedar Lodge, you'll become a frequent guest.

It was recently voted one of the top 5 resorts in America.
