Great for the school.
One of my professors which guided me to my current direction in life. Absolutely brilliant, and at the same time kind of an airhead when it came to life.

What classes did he teach?
what direction did he push you?
If you don't mind my asking

He taught lots of the advanced undergrad bio courses, and I had him for Molecular Biology.
He wasn't my grad advisor (if I remember correctly he never had a lot of those), but he was always available to discuss issues dealing with studies or of a personal nature.
I was conflicted with where I wanted to focus my graduate studies towards and was having a hard time figuring out my future. He provided a lot of insight and I steered towards BioChem with a emphasis on protein science.
Eta: I wouldn't say he pushed, just that the sciences are so open ended its hard to figure out where you want to go sometimes. He merely provided his insight on where the world was headed. He was right.
