That Nub game was terrible.
Same type of personnel in that game for nubs though. NFL talent vs. Steckel D is not a good matchup. The only outlier was the Navy game, there were no NFL players, just terrible coaching.

Yep the only team to allow more points to Auburn was Western Carolina, so unless our linebackers are western carolina level most of it has to go on Steckel
Steckel is stubborn, he refuses to adjust no matter how bad he's getting burned. It's frustrating, he has to go like Yost had to go. The Auburn game was a fireable offense imo.

Yeah Steckel has some real blind spots. I honestly think we should have won the Auburn game. Overall we had better players, and there is no way we should have given up nearly the same number of points as Western Carolina. I also think this will keep coming up with Steckel in big games until it is somehow dealt with.
Sadly hes gonna cost us a couple more Big time games before Pinkel will boot him, he's blindly loyal to him. That's the one thing that's always irked me about Pinkel, his blind loyalty to his assistants, its one of the biggest reasons he could never reach the next level here, his cronies have held us back for years and I'm tired of it. Keeping those guys around was criminal.

Steckel has his faults but our D is infinitely better than under DC and has gotten better in each of the past two years.

Unfortunately those faults cost us multiple games and its sad because it can be corrected but he refuses to change. Can't wait for more 3rd and Steckels, Yay.

As for Henson I couldn't be happier, he is light years better than surfer boy ever was. If I had to watch that SOB waste our big tall WR's by throwing 70 percent bubble screens I was going to smash something.

Our D was probably middle to upper middle of the pack in the SEC last year, we were one of the worst in the B12 for many years. Improvement is definitely needed, but we've come a long way. We just don't get the talent on D that we do on O. I'm not saying Steck shouldn't be accountable for his shortcomings and start being open to making adjustments, but we have to have a little perspective on how much it's improved over the past 7 years.

Seems like we put about as many D players in the pro's as O and they go just as high, so don't think I agree w/ that statement.
Good topic for another thread though.

We don't seem to put that many LB's in the pros, but we seem to use them badly too. Arkansas held Auburn to 35. Are out LB's twice as bad as Arkansas?

If Wilson sticks that will be like 4 in the last 5 years, not a lot, but about as much as anything else. We put more LB's than Safetys in the pros, I still think the D issues are more about scheme than quality of player.

We do well with D linemen.
