NCAA allocations just got released so I thought I'd pop in and give a little preview for our boys chances at making it to St. Louis.

125 (5 qualification spots): Barlow might win the tournament, or go 2 and out. Been so hit and miss this year. The good news is that he has performed way better at tournaments than duals. He can/has beat everyone, but has some real headscratcher losses. But with so many spots, he should have some wiggle room to qualify.

133 (6 spots): Erneste has been one of the few bright spots this season. Stepping in after weight cut issues from teammates, he has risen up the rankings, giving the Tigers a respectable resume. The MAC has alot of Good but not Great wrestlers at this weight. If Erneste beats who he beat in duals, he should solidly make it to NCAA's.

141 (2 spots): Jaydin needs to put his matches away early. If he does that, he should win the tournament. Just can't let it go too long. Even if he doesn't make top 2, he is almost for sure going to get a wildcard bid. NCAA bound.

149 (5 spots): Mayes is NCAA bound. Just needs to make sure he doesn't have any more slip ups that could hurt seeding.

157 (2 spots): Lavalle has been the clutch performer this year, even more than J'den IMO. He has only 1 loss on the year. His only competition will be in the finals, although he did hurt his ankle in the Senior Day dual, so hopefully that is good to go. NCAA bound regardless.

165 (3 spots): Lewis has taken a step back, getting pinned a few times this year. Should make the finals and stamp his ticket, with wildcard if he doesn't. NCAA bound. Needs a resume booster though.

174 (3 spots): Wisman was Oh So CLOSE to qualifying another spot for the conference, falling ONE spot short in the coaches panel. He is the 4th best guy at the weight. He can do it, but he will need to wrestle like the guy who beat Crutchmer. Tough break for the promising freshman.

184 (3 spots): Should have gotten 4 spots, but RPI stole a spot from the conference. Lemanowicz would have to pull/hope for a couple upsets to make it.

197: J'den is NCAA bound. Next.

285 (3 spots): Big break getting a third spot for the MAC. The top 2 are set and probably not going anywhere, but the 3rd spot is up for grabs. 3 guys jointly qualified the 3rd spot between coaches panel and RPI, and relatively weak field. Myers can make NCAA's with a good tournament. Smercheck from Cent Mich and Parker from Ohio are the other two vying for the spot. Myers beat Smercheck 6-2 in the dual, but lost 14-2 to Parker. Myers has been Hit and Miss like Barlow. Honestly, it might come down to seeding (although Parker hasn't wrestled in awhile).

Looking like at least 7 are NCAA bound. 1 with a pretty decent shot. 1 that could with a good day. and 1 that would have to have tournament of his life.

Update with Pre-Seeds.

McGhee a little lower than I was expecting with the 5 seed. Not much has changed though.

Lemanowicz a bit of shock at 5 seed as well. Gives him a lifeline I suppose.

Austin Myers is the biggest winner of the day. Gets the #2 seed...and where others fall, just got a dream seeding. Beat his first opponent 6-2 this year, and for his semifinal, should have UNI guy he beat 12-4. That would put him in the finals with a spot locked.

Other than that, no changes.

I had really hoped that the classes would come together better than they have by Cox' senior year. Was hoping to send him out on a high note in the NCAA's. I would be pleasantly surprised if they ultimately finish as high as they have in Cox's first 3 years.
