Hello northern Tigers. I am going to Springfield next Wednesday for work and wondered if you all had some pointers for me in where to stay and eat in the Springfield area.

I normally try to stay in places where I can walk to good restaurants etc. Any suggestions? I look forward to visiting Missouri for the first time

I'm not very familiar with the Springfield area. But, while you're there you have to go check out the original BassPro Shop, it's an institution. And if you have time, drive a bit south (less than an hour) to Table Rock Lake. It's beautiful there. You should have dinner at Big Cedar Lodge - probably the premier resort in Missouri, IMO.

I know there's a cool microbrewery in downtown Springfield that I'd recommend, but it's been a while since I was there. There are some SWMO guys on here that can give you some good suggestions.

Are you driving or flying? If you're driving, and go through the southeast part of the state, let me know and I'll be more help!

Appreciate all the suggestions.

I will be flying up, so will most likely fly in Wednesday morning, have my appointment in the Springfield area, then free time until i fly out the thursday morning. I am able to make my flight time whatever i want if staying somewhere away from Springfield is recommended (within reason of course)

If you can stay wherever you want, I'd strongly suggest spending a night at Big Cedar Lodge. Look it up. Beautiful place.
