Until pitchers and catchers report. With basketball being good enough to keep my attention but not good enough to get excited. With Mizzou baseball being, well Mizzou baseball. I find myself counting down the days to pitchers and catchers reporting.
Wainwright - Coming off 18 wins.
Miller - Won 14 as a rookie
Wacha - Enuff said
Kelly - Good enough to make the rotation?
Garcia - How's he come back from surgery?
Lynn - Does he go to the bullpen?
Martinez - So good in the pen...better as a starter?
Siegrist - Lefty out of the pen.
Lyons - Another lefty.
Rosenthal - Will he accept closer role despite wanting to start?
Motte - Slides into a set up role?
Holliday - With shortcomings, hit almost .300 with 90 RBI's.
Craig - Missed hugely in the World Series.
Carpenter - How's he handle the change back to 3rd?
Molina - Face of the team.
Adams - Heard he's lost 150 lbs. Ok, I'm lying.
Wong - Can he get it out of the infield?
Jay - Does he play?
Kozma - Does he even make the squad?
Taveras - Is he as good as predicted?
Peralta/Bourjos/Ellis - How do they fit into the lineup?
Can't wait for it all to get started and see how the pieces all come together. All those young arms have me excited. The new guys coming in to solidify the lineup up the middle at SS/2B/CF. The sooner baseball season gets here, the sooner we get to the dog days of summer, the sooner we get to camp the sooner we get to the 2014 football season.

So, Reedus, are you a pitcher or catcher type of man?
Posted on 2/3/14 at 9:04 am to mizzoukills
More of a utility man. You can stick me anywhere.

Killz, I think this Cards team will be better than last years team. I don't see how it can be worse. Only real loss was Beltran and I guess Freese.
1B - Stays the same with Craig/Adams
2B - Might be slight drop off moving Carpenter to 3rd but have Ellis Wong competing to play.
3B - Stronger by moving Carpenter to 3B.
SS - Stronger with Peralta. At worst, stay same with Kozma.
LF - Same with Holliday.
CF - Stronger with Bourjos. At worst, stay same with Jay.
RF - Weaker I suppose depending on what Taveras shows and whether Craig plays RF.
C - Same with Molina.
P - Stronger if that's possible. Garcia returns pushing someone into the bullpen. Motte returns and probably a set up man. So both the rotation and the bullpen gets stronger.

I'm a pitching type guy.
I'm excited about this year's team more than last year's team, and that says something because I loved last year's team.
I will forewarn you now, I'm probably gonna ramp up my STL Cardinals threads on the MSB. Of course, they'll hate every Cardinals thread that I post not because I'm trolling (will never happen), but because Braves fans HATE everything Cardinals.
Please don't enter those threads and call me out as a troll to please the Braves tards, because that will be a completely inaccurate portrayal of my MSB contributions.

Look forward to it killz. I've gotten the baseball bug now and look forward to talking baseball. There will be no calling anyone out as a troll. I might chime in but don't take my milk toast type posts as calling you out. I actually think it's funny how worked up people get just by seeing your name, regardless of what you're actually saying.
As for the season, I can't wait. I think I'll be disappointed if we don't win the Central. Not just make the playoffs, we should win the central. We have pitching coming out of our arse. The lineup should be stronger. It will be HUGE if Wong and Taveras turn out to live up to the hype. If they do....HOLY SHITE we're going to be good.

and we do not have an automatic out coming from our shortstop this year or watching freese hit pop ups to the infield.

I think it's funny too, because half the time I'm actually attempting to initiate rational discussion or debate.
They just see the name mizzoukills and freak out.
I kinda like it that way.

Any chance Martinez gets a shot in the starting rotation? I think I'd like him there more than Lynn or Kelly. Lynn eats up a lot of innings though. Tough call.
Wong didn't impress at all. Completely overmatched last year. Will be interesting to see if he is able to catch up to the game this year.

I'm worried about SS and 2B.
I'm just not sure about peralta. Granted it is an Offensive upgrade over Koz but I'm not sure what we really have there. If he is clean is he worth a damn?
Wong did not show me anything offensively. No doubt he is a good defender but he looked way overmatched at the plate.
I'm excited as hell about Bourjos. Remote sent me a few links to read up on him. IF he stays healthy I can't wait to see what he does in the field. He seems more than capable of helping Holliday and Craig/Tavares cover ground.
Our pitching is going to be sick. Maybe the best staff in baseball

I'm not a fan of Lynn. My perception, right or wrong, is that Lynn freaks out if he has a poor start.
If Lynn has a poor 1st inning, I pretty much assume the game is already over.

I'm with killz. I'd really like to see Martinez given a chance. Put Lynn in the bullpen. He doesn't get as exposed there and you only need a couple of innings from him there. If Martinez is given a shot and we end up with a rotation of:
Wainwright
Wacha
Garcia
Miller
Martinez
I will fap all season long. That is an absurd rotation.

I agree Hermann, upgrade at SS and CF is most likely. Can't be any worse than Kozma and Jay, well because we still have Kozma and Jay.
Between 3B and 2B are we better with Freese/Carpenter or Carpenter/Wong or Ellis? I guess time will tell on that.
Jeez, just remembered we still have Robinson and Descalsio coming off the bench too. I'd like to get a bit more power coming off the bench. Maybe Adams does that if Taveras is in right and Craig at 1B.

I think we are better at 3B. Carp will hit and his D is more natural at 3B so I have no worries at all there.
I would love to see Taveras earn the RF spot. that means Craig spells him from time to time and plays 1B full time. Adams spelling Craig at 1B is fine as well. We just need to find a way to hold onto Adams till the DH is in the NL. He is a prototype DH
