I would much much much rather have Beltran than Holliday.

I'd trade Adams asap as well.

It needs to happen. Unfortunately I think his stock was higher last winter. I bet they could have got a legit young SS for Miller and Adams.

Garcia likely to start in Lyons spot.

Jaime? He's ready to go?

Holliday is a .310/.386/.528 career batter and is the only one driving in runs right now but you want to run him out of town?

Hilarious. The irrational hate Holliday receives by some in St Louis is comical.

I said I want him out of the way before his contract is up, I would not think it wise to get rid of him right now.

He's declining, he's not a number 3 hitter. He's not a HR threat. He's unclunch. I hate his body language. He's not a leader. And he's a terrible outfielder.

Sounds like it. Said they would make the decision if he needed more time and another appearance rehab appearance today.

75 pitches last night through 5 innings.

One more rehab would be ideal but he probably won't get it.

So with all our young arms we're going to rush someone who is injury prone back? Makes no sense to me but ok.

Meh, he has been fine for the Cardinals. Good value on the contract market wise for the consistent production.

Revising things after this contract is up seems logical given his age etc but I dont get the angst directed at him. He has been a model of consistency throughout his career.

His numbers say he is "clutch"

a .310/.386/.528 hitter isnt a #3 hitter? Come on man.

You just dont like him, I get that but trying to rationalize that hate flies in the face of the facts man.

Career numbers are my favorite!

They tell so much about how a player is currently.

But anyway.

Hitting with RISP isn't exactly the total indication of clutch that some might think.

When you really need a hit you aren't comfortable with Holliday at the plate. It's Molina that everyone wants in that situation.

Holliday is the kind of guy in hockey that boosts his stats on 'point nights' but isn't nearly as involved when things really matter.

Who could start?

Cooney would be the only one that I could see getting a call.

Martinez can't start on short notice.

Jaime's next rehab start would be a full 100 pitch game. He would have done that last night but his first start was cut short because of that hit on the elbow. He's probably ready enough to give it a go.

I'm probably some where in the middle with Holliday. I don't think he's all that, but I also think there are a lot of other things that I'd deal with first.

Well you are not going to like his numbers with RISP this season any better then. He is hitting over .400 and Slging like .600.

Kind of flies in the face of your opinion as well.

At some point Martinez needs to get worked into the rotation for good. I understand the need for an 8th inning guy but his future and value is as a starter, whether for this team or as a trade asset.

True enough. Didn't even think about the short notice. Wasn't Freeman starting last year?

Hitting with RISP isn't the tell all that you might think it is as a way to define clutch.

Knocking in the guys when you're already up by 4 runs isn't clutch. Same is true when you're down and the game is out of reach.

He's not terrible, peoples automatic zero summing causes them to take my criticism of him as me thinking he's awful.

He's just not the guy I want as our cornerstone offensive player. I'm done with him. Let him ride out this year and then I'm ready to move on. I appreciate that he did a pretty good job for us, at least in the regular season. Guy was pretty much shite in the playoffs (but he's really clutch).

He's always been a bullpen guy, I think.

He's the last arm I want to trade.

He should have been in the rotation from the start of the year.
