Bauer is what we need and it's a long ways till he signs anywhere.

I didn't say you said anything about Bauer or Ramirez, I did when talking about the bad trend we have going on and how I can't wait for it to turn around. And I probably should have said lost their commitments, not lost them because I think it is a fact they are no longer committed to Mizzou.

Agreed on Bauer being a long way away with plenty of time to work on him, which is all my point was anyways, get to work on him and the others.

Maybe so, but OU and USC has other options. Not Missouri. Plus we were alot closer to Nebraska than we were to Iowa State. Like I said, inexcusable.

Thats not the point. Kids commit to home schools for all kinds of reasons that dont make sense to people on the outside.

You can keep gnashing your teeth and trying to place blame but sometimes this is the way it goes.

I understand what you're saying as far as kids choosing to stay home for whatever reason. What I'm saying is we have got to find a way to not let that happen or else we will be stuck in mediocrity forever. Missouri produces good talent but not enough good talent so we have to convince kids Mizzou is such a better option it outweighs the thoughts of staying at home.

I fully understand that, but he isnt solely choosing ISU over us because they are in-state. We arent that far away. And it cant be an enormous draw because he committed to us first and didnt even consider them. The campus hasnt moved further away from his house. So what has changed since he has committed? Until we step up, this will continue.

I don't doubt thoughts of staying even closer played a part but I also don't doubt a shitty season played a part too.

I mean I get the kid grew up as an ISU fan when he was younger, but that wasnt an enormous factor at 18. It helps, but to say it is the only reason he left is pretty short-sighted.

He did consider them before he committed to Mizzou. Why isnt Campos looking around for something better than ISU then? He could go to multiple schools that are far and away better than ISU.

Its not really logical to ignore the examples of home grown kids decommitting form big time programs to go to Mizzou and then not applying some of that same logic to kids when they do the same, just not to our benefit.

Maybe others schools thought he was solid and backed off. That could be anything.

The fact is we cant afford to lose blue chips, especially to inferior programs (although they are catching up).

I mean on your examples of Gabbert, Sheldon, and Maclin none of them came to Mizzou solely because it was the in-state school.

Gabbert - Nebraska changed staffs

Maclin - Wanted to go to Nebraska but they said they didnt want him anymore

Richardson - Was going to go to USC but his Mom doesnt fly

I love all of them for staying home by the way. But to say they only stayed home because of a natural calling here isnt completely true. There are always several reasons for a commitment. So again, what has really changed?

He was then wanted to go to Nebraska, Callahan said "We dont need you". One of the things that got him fired when Maclin came to Mizzou and lit them up in 2007.

Your right. The staff is great. The class reflects it. What am I thinking?

You said I am knocking the staff undeservedly. I dont really see how. I mean if you are satisfied with this staff's recruiting then continue, but I dont see how it can be argued that it is a severe weak point.

No stripes. Im saying you are beating your drum over the Campos decommit to ISU and I dont think the staff played a part in that.

I have said from the beginning that I think that the biggest concern about this staff is their ability to consistently recruit at an SEC level. Im just not gonna place blame on the staff over this decommitment because I just dont feel like there is justification.
