I've never heard of his dream job being at Penn State, but he did graduate from a university in Pennsylvania.
That being said: Rebuilding the Penn State program would be a really big time effort, and considering that he's got us in the SEC CG this year, I don't see him leaving unless he wants like 12 million dollars and they're willing to offer it to him.

Yeah it was new to me as well but a State "Insider" on twitter was saying Mullen supposedly loves Penn State as his dream job.
I doubt he leaves now that the foundation he has laid at UF is starting to take hold. But crazier things have happened I guess

Mullen does not hop jobs. He stayed as cord with Meyer from start to finish as an OC. Then stayed at State despite having interest for years for a long time. He did not come to UF to be here 3 years and go to a job that is not even a lateral move.

Interest from who while at State? No big names I can think of till our spot came open
Let’s be honest here, we were full press Chip Kelly till he stalled and Tennessee was said to have shown interest in Mullen if I remember correctly

He was stated to go to Penn State when he was at State.
He's also been rumored to have many places call him up and offer jobs:
Virginia Tech.
Michigan.

He was one of the names for every job opening for a couple of years there. His success at Miss State makes him an auto candidate for major jobs. Just like Franklin at Vandy and Freeze at Ole Miss. He choose to stay(or not cheat and get fired). Mullen stayed at waited for the job he wanted to go to.

I'll be honest...during that coaching search, I would have been fine with Kelly, Frost, or Mullen.
We honestly dodged a bullet with Kelly, and I heard what the biggest negative with him was that he HATED recruiting.
I think Frost would have been an okay hire, no where near what Mullen is, but we would have been competitive and won 7-9 games a year. I liked that he was younger, but in the end, he ended up at his dream job so had it not happened this year he most likely would have left us eventually for Nebraska.
I also think Strickland's relationship with MSU was another reason Mullen wasn't on the top of the list.

Many ppl -ME- knew once Frost chose to “go home” to The Huskers that he was fricked.
I think he would’ve done very well here.
Same with Kelly, just because these guys are struggling where they landed at doesn’t mean they would’ve done poorly at UF.

100% agree.
Nebraska was in way, way worse condition here and UCLA is the second best team in the city. Their cross-city rivals have a lot more prestige, resources and an overall better program from virtually ever angle.
I think Kelly was stupid, because he could have pretty much just coached here without that much recruiting since Miami and FSU were both in the shitter at the same time.
Welp, their loss lol. Mullen's got us firing on all cylinders.
