I can't imagine Lane wanting to get involved in that shitshow down there after the governor turned the whole firing/hiring into a political stunt.

One of the biggest things that Ole Miss has going for it in keeping him is the almost complete autonomy he's had in running the football program. They give him the resources he needs and stay out of the way. I don't think he'd be quick to lose that.

It's the one place I'll give Stricklin some credit too. He let Billy Napier hang himself by not trying to force his hand on an OC. Say what you want about the UAA and Stricklin, but they let Billy do it his way all the way until he was a smoking crater.

I think for anyone UF and LSU might both be wanting, the prospective hire has to consider the way each coaching tenure ended. You got one place where things came unraveled quickly when the AD tried to force the HC to fire the OC, and another where they stuck by the HC for at least a year too long and let him run himself off a cliff exactly how he wanted to.
