What is the consensus of...

I'm fine with it. I think that the coaches and anyone who watched his film last year sees something special in him. He didn't do the camp circuits going into his Jr and Sr years, so he wasn't really known. He was lighting up the Friday Night Lights HS football wrapups done by NC media. His stats are crazy. He had 48 rushing TD's last season and a 11.1 YPC against NC 4A ball (2nd biggest classification.) A bunch of his TD runs could have gone for 50 + yds b/c there was nobody near him, he has agility/speed and a 2nd gear that is elite.

The only thing that stopped Dowdle's total yards or YPC from being even higher than they were, was the goal line. They stop counting yardage there.

I expect him to be the starter (maybe not game 1, but probably by the end of the season and definitely by next season.) He was the PARADE All American, and there were a shite ton of great RB's they could've chosen instead last year.

I think it will play like this. Dowdle takes a game or 2 to get some touches....then he breaks off a big run or 2 and gets more touches by games 4/5....then he breaks off more big plays and he's starting by year end. Hopefully he comes in and does well in fall camp. Right now he's behind everyone else with the playbook, but as far as talent goes, he's probably our most talented/gifted RB.

Based on his production in HS, I'm amazed how far under the radar this kid flew. I really hope we snagged a diamond in the rough right from under everyone else's nose.
