I love how a bunch of dogs chimed in w/ "Oh we most definitely have a rival" and they all think it's someone different
there is no "bunch of people". One person said they think it's UF. If a SC fan thought UGA was your biggest rival that wouldn't make it true, would it?

If enough of them did, it might.
Your argument is retarded, anyways. "The school's rival" as if it's consecrated somewhere in your charter. And even if you elide that fact: your charter doesn't tailgate, your charter doesn't purchase merchandise, your charter doesn't post on message boards or high five after a TD.
Your fanbase determines your rival. And your fanbase can't agree. If 100% of your fanbase agreed AU was your biggest rival EXCEPT YOU would you still be weaving some silly school argument? What if you stopped playing GT? What if GT folded their football program? How would you choose a new rival? Would your administration have to declare it? Would the fans pick it? Would the coach?
FYI: In Charleston every UGA fan I talk to agrees it is UF. Most are 30 and under.

That's nice. I laid out actual discussion and talking points yet one person says "no, that's wrong" and my argument is retarded? Oh ok.

Disagree, and I've pointed out why. Most people are going to base those opinions on where they live and who they interact with. Someone living in UF saying UF is our biggest rival doesn't make it so.

That's a silly hypothetcial because 100% of a fanbase agreeing on something isn't possible. I'm sure there are some bammers that think UT is their biggest rival, and some aubs who think we are, but I'm pretty sure bama/au are still each other's biggest rival.

Why would that change anything? They'd still be our most hated rival. If Clemson and SC stopped playing for a few decades you really think they'd stop being each other's rival?

Thanks for reinforcing my point, to a T. Those fans have seen us lose to UF most of their lives, so they think UF is our biggest rival. They also probably dont' know any tech fans.

that picture doesn't even make any sense.
Yes, I get what it's attempting to say, but it's pretty dumb.

You thinking GT is your rival and my UGA friends thinking UF and some thinking AU IS A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION.
There is no constitution-style document from which the authority to declare GT your eternal rival flows from. And the schism among your fanbase reflects that.
If you want GT to be your one and only rival then either get your fanbase in line behind it or have your administration/staff declare it.

Let me ask you this:
Do you think a school's, not john q. fan, but the actual school's, biggest rival can/should change every so often based on the recent history of the series?

There isn't really as big a fracture as you think. You personally know a handful who think it's UF so that's the notion you have. You saw one person on an internet forum say the same thing. Poll 100,000 UGA fans across America old and young and tell me what you get.

I never said that, I said they are our #1 rival.

No, which is the entire point of me bringing it up: y'all are (fairly) unique in this tendency.

My family is from ATL, a parent went to UGA, and my sister as well as dozens of my friends currently live there. I make it to Athens and ATL quite often for family reasons. I KNOW your fanbase and they hate UF, not GT.

you don't know shite then. You know what, 20 or 30 people to draw from? I know thousands. People that I grew up with (in Georgia!), went to UGA with, work with, attend games with, and am family with...and the overwhelming majority know the answer. And it aint florida.
Let me ask you this also since you are so finely in tune with our fanbase. WHAT makes florida our biggest rival? I want actual answers, not just "well my buddy said so". Give me actual reasons why UF is our biggest rival over tech. Don't bother saying "they beat you from 1990-2010, because that's not what makes a longstanding #1 rival, as I'm sure you would know.

In fact, let me float another theory. You personally are sensitive to the charges that UGA doesn't have a true rival and recognizing that to select UF would make y'all look bad b/c it seems more convenient rather than rooted in history, you always lead the charge to get everyone to name GT as your one true rival.
The dog doth protest too much.
It's UF. For now, anyways.

You, a non-UGA fan, are the only one saying that btw. I'm not stupid.

Says the SC fan? Ooh fun, well I say wofford is your biggest rival! So shall it be done, it's official. For now, anyways.

Just kidding...or am I?
I really don't give a shite who you think our rival is or if you even think we don't have one. You're a Cock fan telling UGA fans who their rivals are or who they're not for that matter. You have no credibility in the discussion.
Bottom line, WG is right. Tech is and always will be at the top of the list. They didn't name the game Good Old Fashioned Hate for nothing. We've been kicking their arse for over a decade now and they'll still be our rivals when we're kicking the next decade. UF and Auburn are close seconds but they aren't GT when it comes to pure hatred of another school. We like winning the UF and Auburn games, but we despise GT with every ounce of our being.

The passion and intensity w/ which your fans approach the UF game. From the smack talk, to the number of people who travel for that game, to the watch parties (that I've personally attended in ATL), to the number of times UF/UGA gets brought up in general football conversation relative to UGA/GT by UGA grads.
I've been invited to UF/UGA watch parties. I've never even heard of a UGA fan hosting a watch party for the GT game.

If you can get a massive portion of our fanbase to echo that sentiment then I'll be more than happy to acknowledge that they are our rival.

Thanks for the honest answer. Have you been to a tech game in atlanta before? More than 1? Do you think the fact that our fans take a week off from work to go play golf and hit the beach and party for a week makes the approach of that game a little different?

From the smack talk
In what possibly way can you quantify this?

to the number of people who travel for that game
mentioned above. It's a fall vacation. We dont' take a beach vacation to play tech.
quote:

People not going to Jax watch it in Atlanta. People in Atlanta go to the tech game, or if not watch it at their home.

Could that be because UF has been a better football program the last 2 decades than tech? There's a reason they aren't talked about in football and it's because they suck right now. Doesn't that make sense?
Everything you've given as the reason UF is our BIGGEST rival centers around how many people go to a bar to watch it on TV essentially. Anything else or is that it?

Most people love the UF game because it's a huge drunk fest that lasts an entire week. It's like a college football vacation of booze and beaches. That's why we hype it up so much.
The GT game is the week of Thanksgiving. Most people are at home with their families.

What!?! You've been to a GA/FL watch party in ATL? I guess you are well versed in the subject. I concede. You definitely know more than any GA fan would know about who our rival would be.
